Reconcile the bank
How to say what each bank movement settles, NaPa's suggestions, rules and how to undo a reconciliation.
Reconciling is saying what each bank movement settles: an invoice collected or paid, an entry that already exists, or an expense such as a fee. Each account in Banks says how many movements it has To reconcile.
Reconcile a movement
Open the movement.
- NaPa's suggestions: what fits by amount, invoice number, the customer's or supplier's tax ID or name, your rules and what you did with similar movements. If one is right, press Reconcile this way.
- Choose by hand: combine invoices to collect or to pay (you can change each one's amount), unreconciled bank entries, Other accounts (fees, direct debits, payroll, taxes), a transfer between your accounts or returned debits, until it matches the movement. Then press Reconcile.
NaPa posts whatever is needed (the collection, the payment, the bank entry). Nothing is posted with a date in a closed period.
Rules
A rule proposes the account for a movement whose text contains some words, for example "COMISION" to 626. It never reconciles by itself: you confirm. Create them in Banks › Rules with New rule, or with Make a rule after reconciling a movement by hand to a single account.
Movements by rules lists the movements that match one: untick any that don't belong and reconcile the rest at once.
Undo
On a reconciled movement, Undo reconciliation reverses what NaPa posted with reversing entries, and the movement is left to reconcile again.
